The U.S. Consul General in Dubai visited American national Zack Shahin, who’s been on a hunger strike in a prison in the Persian Gulf sheikhdom for more than two weeks, said the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Justin Siberell, the consul, yesterday visited Shahin, who’s been in jail since 2008, to express the U.S. government’s concern for his condition and the conduct of his detention, according to the statement posted on the Website of the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Shahin, a former chief executive of Dubai property developer Deyaar Development PJSC (DEYAAR), had been held for at least a year without charges, family members said in 2009.
